Marketing and streamlining the process from farm to store, we work with producers and buyers in the fresh produce industry across South Africa. Our role is to establish a market for the producer's product, focus on brandname loyalty of their products, negotiate prices and ordering quantities of produce, handle queries and problem solve any issues that may arise during this process. We pride ourselves in establishing, building and maintaining successful relationships with our producers and buyers, based on excellent communication and transparency.

Established 28 years ago, we have a history of long-standing relationships with top quality producers and a wide spectrum of buyers of fresh produce in South Africa. We continue to use our knowledge and experience to grow the marketplace, continuously seeking to add value and create opportunities for both supplier and customer.
What We Do
Producers
We work with quality producers around South Africa to establish a national market share and expand on that market share every season thereafter.
While incorporating our producer's unique production and logistical processes into our marketing strategy, we establish a loyal customer base with consistent demand and build a relationship of trust between the producer's brand and the customer.
Using our extensive knowledge of the industry, we are able to accurately advise our producers on the latest customer requirements regarding product quality, variety of packaging required, sizing etc., helping our producers stay up-to-date with the needs of their market.
Customers
We source and supply product according to the specific needs of each customer and ensure the continuous supply of quality product thereof based on their requirements. â €
Our focus is on establishing a strong, longstanding relationship between our customers and the product brands that build their market share. â €
By following the shortest chain to minimize the cost of marketing and therefore ensuring the lowest price of the highest quality fruit and veg to our customers, we create a win-win situation for both the producer and customer.

Ilse Ras
Director

Ilse is the founder and owner of Direct Produce Marketing, she has 35 years experience working in the fresh produce industry. After 6 years working as an agent on the Pretoria market, Ilse identified an opportunity to provide a more personalised and direct relationship between producers and buyers in South Africa. Since 1992, Ilse has successfully established and grown Direct Produce Marketing into the business that it is today and brings a wealth of knowledge and industry experience to her role.

Michelle Papayannis

Michelle has worked in the fresh produce industry for 12 years and joined the DPM team in early 2022. Michelle heads up our Cape Town-based office. Michelle brings with her a wealth of fresh produce knowledge and a great drive and determination to further grow her relationships with both buyers and producers.

Anli grew up in the fresh produce industry and joined DPM in 2017. Anli has 2 decades of customer service, sales and admin experience in a corporate environment. She is running the Gauteng-based office for DPM. Anli brings a vibrant and energetic approach marketing fresh produce and thrives on customer-satisfaction, she is eager to learn and grow in this ever-challenging industry.
Carol Theunissen
Financial Administrator

Carol joined DPM in 1999 and has been growing with the company since the establishment and embodies the characteristics of integrity and diligence. Her quality of work and experience within the financial sector is managed with great leadership. Her passion for challenges in the financial department has been her greatest enjoyment.
